| Bb Trumpet -The workhorse is A Bach Stradivarius Model 43 I've had for about 11 years. I had it gold plated, and put an Amati spit key on the 3rd valve slide and I use the heavy valve caps. For 90% of my work I play a Reeves 43M mouthpiece, however for hardcore classical I play a Monette Prana B3 which I also use occasionally for small group jazz. Flugel Horn - I recently (finally!) acquired a Couesnon. These are like antiques and I've wanted one for years - I think these instruments just sound amazing, and the intonation is good on this horn (there are some dodgy ones around). I use a Reeves 43F Flugal Mouthpiece with a Couesnon Shank. Cornet - I am currently playing a Boosey & Hawkes 'Sovereign' which is about 20 years old. I play a Wick 3B for the most part in an endeavour to get a real 'cornet' sound, but if the gig requires a more commercial focus I also play a Wick 3C. Piccolo Trumpet - I play an old Selmer Bb/A piccolo and the mouthpiece is chosen to suit the repertoire. |
